Do I need to tell my employer when I join KiwiSaver?

Do I need to tell my employer when I join KiwiSaver?

We notify the IRD once we've processed your application, and they'll send your employer a letter informing them that you've joined a KiwiSaver Scheme. It will also tell them to start making contributions.

This process can take some time, so to avoid delay you're free to let your employer know yourself. If they've got any questions they can contact us at info@simplicity.kiwi or call the IRD on 0800 549 472.
