You can join KiwiSaver if you:
- are
a New Zealand citizen, or are entitled to live in New Zealand
indefinitely; and
- live
or normally live in New Zealand.
You cannot join KiwiSaver if you are in New Zealand on a
temporary, visitor, work or student visa.
If you already have KiwiSaver with another provider?
You can switch to Simplicity (even if you are currently living overseas)
Joining Simplicity only takes a few minutes. You'll need:
- Your IRD
number and
- A valid photo ID, such as a passport or New Zealand driver
licence.

discuss your situation and the options available.
If you're transferring your KiwiSaver from another provider,
the transfer generally takes 10–15 working days.
