How do I make a retirement withdrawal?

When you turn 65 you're eligible for NZ Superannuation and to withdraw your KiwiSaver funds.

If you choose to make a withdrawal, you can set up regular or one off withdrawals at any time.

To make the first withdrawal you'll need to complete a form - First Retirement Withdrawal Form. You will find this in Forms/Documents in the left-hand menu when you log in to your account. The initial withdrawal requires a Statutory Declaration and ID documents which need to be certified by a JP or solicitor, as well as evidence of your bank account.

Initial retirement withdrawals take up to 10 working days to be paid out to your nominated bank account since IRD needs to approve government contribution amounts to be released.

To initiate a subsequent withdrawal from your KiwiSaver fund please login to your online account and select the Withdrawal tab in the left-hand menu. Here you can follow the steps to verify your bank account and select the amount you’d like to withdraw.

It takes 3-4 working days for the funds to arrive in your nominated bank account once we’ve received the request.
